"The best parent is both parents."

Purpose

The Children's Rights Council of Minnesota (CRCmn) is a state chapter of a national organization. CRC works to assure a child the frequent, meaningful and continuing contact with two parents and extended family the child would normally have during a marriage. We work to strengthen families through education, favoring family formation and family preservation. Unlike many organizations with some of the same concerns, CRC is genderless; we are not a women's group nor a men's group. Rather, we are advocates for what we believe to be in the best interests of children.

Membership Information

Membership is described by our national organization. When you join CRC, you help us help children have meaningful relationships with their parents.

CRCmn Initiatives

Local Chapters

The Children's Rights Council of Minnesota is looking for local chapters. Chapters need not be large, a few dedicated individuals in a community can make a big difference.

Court Watch

Court Watch is an effort to educate members, the media, and elected officials on the effects of the current laws and court system on the non-custodial parent and the children of divorce. Participants are given a format to follow and asked to observe county court proceedings in the areas of custody, visitation, child support, etc. Although many cases are routine, there are also many that begin to show the problems with the system.

Legislation

We are not, and do not have, lobbyists but we take positions on bills before the legislature and have participated in legislative hearings. We attempt to keep state and federal legislators informed of how we believe problems related to our purpose should be solved. Our legislative pages contain information on Minnesota family law.
